Subscriptions Rise With Coronavirus Coverage: Weekly Updated Chart

Piano has been tracking subscription trends in Europe and the United States since the beginning of March, just before the global pandemic was declared on March 11. The chart below shows the relative number of new subscribers for each week compared with the average weekly new subscriptions acquired in January and February.

In the second week of May, subscription acquisition was up 18% up in Europe and 15% in the U.S. compared to the week before. Total new subscriptions increased in March and April compared with January and February by 122% in Europe and 64% in the U.S.
